Booking

The Subdued Stringband Jamboree presents local, regional, and national bands and musicians to a family audience on a grassy hill in Whatcom County. The bands we book are:

LOCAL!
50% of the bands we book are local (Whatcom and Skagit county). One of the goals of the festival is to provide a venue and a meeting place for area musicians. However, we do invite regional and national acts to come and join us for the weekend.

If your band is touring through the area in August we'd love to hear from you. We always love a surprise.

ACOUSTIC!
There is a focus on acoustic music but there is no hard rule. Every year there are some bands with drums and electric guitars. There is only one rule, no keyboards. Why? They sound bad. We will provide a piano. Up until 20 years ago it was customary to have a piano at every venue. Now, everyone has gotten lazy and plays a synthesizer. We'll have an upright piano tuned and available.

ROOTS!
The bands we book work in the roots tradition. We aim to bring together the best of the old and the new, including old-time, singer-songwriter, bluegrass, klezmer, honky-tonk, gypsy-jazz, country, western swing, and Irish music.
